Another low attendance possibly due to weather
forecasts. Those who attended, however, enjoyed 5 - 15kts and temperatures in the
low 80's. None enjoyed it more than Todd Edwards, sweeping the three races against a
fleet with little numbers, but big competition, including his little brother, Clinton, who
also has a sweep of his own at one of the SW Regionals this year.
It was clear that there were very few shifts and oscillations, so Todd had to rely on
shear boat speed and tide. It took him half of the first race to get both in sync,
rounding mark one 5th, but once he got moving, he wasn't waiting around to see who would
be second. Clinton and Bishop traded positions in the first two races, and were once
again very close in race three (and again behind Todd) when Bishop's gooseneck sheared.
Repairing it with remaining halyard, Bish got back into the race and actually began
to close on Clinton and Dave Blouin when, as if to even it up, Clinton death-rolled on the
last leg. A quick recovery stifled Bishop's rekindled spirits. Clinton lost
one boat in the mistake and managed to hold on for second in the event.
