The 1998 Inland Lakes Regional Sunfish, hosted by the Blanche Lake Sunfish Fleet was sailed on Blanche Lake off Woodlawn Resort on August 29-30. Ten skippers entered. They sailed six races on Saturday and two on Sunday. First place was captured by Bud Narveson, followed by Louie Hunt in second place, Tom Raster third, Joe Richardson fourth, and Jason Raster in fifth.
The event went smoothly and pleasantly, thanks to the excellent arrangements of Joe Richardson, the efficient work of the race committee Joe and Joyce Lightowler, the hospitality of Phyllis Narveson at Woodlawn, and the cooperation of all the skippers.
Winds on Saturday were NW 10-17 mph, on Sunday variable from southwest to north at 1-10 mph. Skies were clear and temperatures in the 70s and 80s. The final regularly scheduled regatta of the Blanche Lake Sunfish Fleet will take place off Woodlawn Resort next Sunday September 6 beginning at 1p.m. Sailing will be followed by the customary social hour, presentation of awards, and fleet business meeting.
If the good weather holds, the fleet will also hold a bonus regatta on the following Sunday, September 13.
