Hunter's Moon Regatta
Edgewood YC, Edgewood, RI
October 23, 1999
The Hunter's Moon Regatta provided a brisk day to end the summer racing season and the
annual wake-up call for the Frostbite Fleet. The weather was a sunny but blustery 55
degrees with a 12-18 knot Westerly. Five races were completed and two boats retired to
shore with breakdowns. After the races we repaired to the warm clubhouse for hearty
sandwiches. We held the traditional Hunter's Moon prize auction, with a table of prizes
enough for all. The winner got his choice of prize, the second place chose his favorite
from the remaining ones, and so on. Next year's regatta will be on Saturday, October 14,
1999, 1 day after the full Hunter's Moon (the Harvest Moon is in September). The Farmer's
Almanac predicts morning showers ending by race time, 62 degrees, wind SSW at 12-14 knots.
