This regatta could be considered somewhat of an endurance event where we race/sail up and down a winding and narrow river, but it's always been one of the most fun events of the year.  Five Sunfish (1 master, 2 midgets on 1 boat, 2 women, and a non-classified sailor) started each race downwind in 10-12 knots and finished in 15-17 knots. The course was approximately 6-8 miles long with a race on Saturday and Sunday. Ann Edwards won the downwind legs (starts) both days while Peter Sladovich and Clinton Edwards split the upwind legs (finishes). Multiple stops were normal as we would regroup and continue racing.

Ann received the Sportsmanship award from the two midgets for escorting/coaching them on Sunday's upwind finish in the heavy breeze. Peter Sladovich won the tie breaker with Clinton Edwards. The midgets (Alex Boudreaux and John Hadden) won a tie breaker with Ann. Who beat who on Sunday was the tie breaker formula.

Funny side stories... all boats carried ice chests with their favorite beverages... Peter ran Clinton into the marsh... the turning mark was place in two feet of water...

Serious Note: This regatta was a fund raiser for Hope Haven's Children Shelter. An organization that shelters children who are placed in the State's custody and is raising monies to build a new shelter for the children. 16 boats in all raised over 500 dollars in registration fees that were donated to Hope Haven.
