2000 ST. PETE SAILFEST ONE DESIGN REGATTA

Not too good a Sunfish turn out for this light air St. Pete venue. Quite a few Sunfishers were working on the Race Committee and others were working at the SailExpo taking place at the site. The Gulf Coast guys had a regatta up north. Sailing gear was given away and Ed Baird presented the awards. 180 boats total sailed.

Steve Honour held off Rod Koch and Jeff Olson in a close match that came down to the last race. If Jeff had beaten Dick Tillman in race 5 he would have won. Jeff showed that he would be in there at the Worlds next weekend in Sarasota if he can keep track of his rudder and daggerboard . 14 year old Dirk Resler sailed well in his first regatta away from his Savannah, GA home.
