The day started out a little gloomy,
light rain and no wind. We postponed for
about an hour with the hope that the rain would subside and the wind would fill in enough
to run 3 races. By 2pm the rain stopped and
the sun came out with a steady but light (5-6mph) wind that held for the afternoon. The boats were launched and the races began. With one start for both fleets, we held 3
windward-leewards (twice around).
In A fleet, James Liebl was virtually untouchable winning all 3
races. In B fleet, thirteen year old Greg
Hansen (racing the sunfish for the first time) won 2 out of the 3 races (finishing ahead
of several A fleeters) to take B fleet honors.
As always, after the races the sailors
enjoyed refreshments, conversation and the presentation of the daily trophies. Thanks again to Rick Pantall for providing the
trophies and to Carol McDowell for providing those delicious hors d'oeuvres.
