Two things were dominant in Corpus Christi, light air and Paul Foerster. Unusually light conditions greeted 17 Sunfish sailors at the first regatta of the 2002 Texas Sunfish Circuit. Corpus Christi Yacht Club hosted the regatta as sailors from around the state from as far away as Abilene and Dallas gathered, pointing to another great year in Texas Sunfish sailing.

Paul Foerster showed superior speed in the 3 – 5 knot, lumpy conditions that dominated the weekend, winning 5 of the 7 races. Hank Saurage, showing his usual consistency took second over Joanne Kolius, as he looks to regain his Circuit title which slipped away last year.

The next stop in the circuit will be the State Championship regatta to be held at Rush Creek Yacht Club in Dallas, April 27 – 28.
