2002 Midwest Sunfish Regionals #1
The Midwest  Sunfish Regionals were held July 13-14, 2002 at Pymatuning Lake, which straddles the Ohio- Pennsylvania border.  The Pymatuning Sailing Club hosted the regatta which was held in conjunction with the Sam Myers Memorial  Regatta, there were 67 sailboats out on the water.

The wind didn't show up this year, as only 1 triangle course was completed for the whole weekend.  The Sunfish sailors had ample time to visit with each other and had a very plesant weekend.
Derrick Fries and Doug Kaukeinen switched leads throughout the whole race and finished just ahead of a rapidly closing fleet that were riding a reaching gust of wind that jumbled places 3rd through 14th.  That last gust was the last breath of air for the rest of the weekend.
