USSCA Annual President's Award

These awards aim to recognize and appreciate the efforts and accomplishments of our members, fueling motivation and fostering a spirit of camaraderie and dedication within USSCA and the Sunfish Sailing community. The awards will be given in three categories: Member of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, and Youth of the Year. All members in good standing of the USSCA (United States Sunfish Class Association) are eligible for these awards.

Member of the Year:

This award is to honor a member who has shown dedication, participation, and embodiment of the Sunfish sailing spirit throughout the year. The member must have been actively involved in major sailing activities, exhibited exemplary sailing skills, shown leadership, and contributed positively to the association. The recipient should be a role model for other members and have made an impact in the Sunfish sailing community.

Volunteer of the Year:

This award is meant to honor a volunteer who has served selflessly and made significant contributions to the USSCA over the year. The volunteer needs to have demonstrated exceptional commitment, dedication, and made a noticeable difference in the association. The individual's volunteer work could be in any area, including but not limited to race organization, membership, youth support, maintenance, promotion, or sponsorship.

Youth of the Year:

This award is intended to honor a youth member (under 19 years) who has shown significant improvement, outstanding performance, exemplary participation, or personal growth over the year. The individual should have demonstrated a commitment to learning the art of Sunfish sailing, been actively involved in events, and represented the USSCA in a positive manner.

Nomination Process:

Nominations can be submitted by any member of USSCA in good standing. The nomination must include a detailed description of why the individual is deserving, highlighting their contributions. Nominations should be open two months before the annual event and closed two weeks before the annual event.

Selection Process:

The USSCA Nomination Commitee or other committee so directed by the President will review all nominations. This review will include assessing the candidate's suitability, verifying the validity of the nomination, and evaluating the contributions of the individual based on the detailed descriptions provided. The designated committee will review nominations and recommend the award recipients based on set criteria for each award.

After the Commitee has selected the winners, the USSCA President will review their selections. The President maintains the right to approve or veto the committee's choice. If vetoed the Nomination Committee must reassess and present a new candidate to the President for approval.

The awards will be presented annually at the North American Championships ideally either during the annual General Meeting, during the North American's Award Ceremony, or at another designated time.
